Well, 2020 turned out not to be the year. This is more difficult than giving up smoking! What's making it harder is the relative benefits of keeping the big tech companies around, versus the small benefits that I get from dumping them. Buying stuff from Amazon is just SO easy. They negotiate the best prices with all their sellers, so I can't even get the same price when I go directly to THEIR site. Should I be willing to pay more for a product just because I don't want to support Amazon? Or, do I need to just try a bit harder? How about audible for books? Again, it's $12 a book and they have books I can't listen to anywhere else. Now there are lots of books I could, but haven't read, so perhaps I should give another site a try. I'm paying for Scribd, and they have a decent set of audiobooks that would keep me busy. At the least, I should be willing to cut Amazon out for this year. First, I need to spend down my credits in both the regular store front and Audible.

2020 is going to be the year of living withing GAFAM.

G - Google. This is the tough one.

Amazon - Just don't log in.

Facebook - I don't have an account.

Apple - Probably the second most difficult.

Microsoft - This will be more difficult for my colleagues.
